| *Research and development division | |
Our Research and Development Division applies biotechnology to the supply of clean plants that are not affected with viruses, the development of a mass propagation system, and the development and improvement of new breeds. |
Tissue Culture Tissue culture is a technique to isolate organs or tissues, cells under totally sterilized circumstance and culture with the most suitable condition. At our Laboratory of Research and development division, removal of virus, preservation of elite plants, free from virus, mass propagation by tissue culture, ( mass propagation was started for Viva Rosa since 2000) are the main job and we are contributing to the effectiveness and labor saving on flower production. We are working on getting the latest information and techniques through worldwide horticulture industry and supplying them to our valuable customers. |
Making virus-free Once plants get infected with a disease caused by virus, most of the cases, they can not be recovered. Especially we have to keep our eyes open on virus problems all the time since our business relies on production of vegetative varieties. At our Research and development division, we are using the specific examination technique called ELISA and DNA, this makes possible to find out virus which can never be detected by naked eyes. Therefore, the plants we are supplying are screened more than 10 kinds of virus after shoot apex culture and they are totally clean. Moreover, they are used at our greenhouse production area and confirmed, there is no mutation problem, which may caused by this kind of culture. The plants, which went through this process are called elite plants and preserved under totally sterilized circumstances and propagated on request. In this way, we are always making 100% sure that we are supplying clean and best quality cuttings for our customers. |
| *Young plants and seeds sales division | |
Our Trading Operations Section is quick to obtain the latest information on horticulture and the most advanced culturing techniques in the world and to carefully introduce such new technology to the horticultural industry. It plays an important pivotal role in international distribution of horticultural products. It actively serves as an intermediary of technical exchange between domestic and foreign growers. |
Trade operation section Our Young Plants and Seeds Trading Division, which promotes technical exchange between domestic and foreign growers, specializes in horticultural import and export. We import the seeds and young plants of ornamental plants and flowers, cut flowers, and other horticultural materials from Europe, U.S.A, Central America, South-east Asia and other parts of the world and supply them to horticultural growers in Japan. Arriving at an airport, imported plants are quarantined, cleared through customs, and inspected on the spot before we supply them by a safe and secured system. |
Young plants and seeds sales section The Young Plants and Seeds Sales Section is making effort to promptly introduce new breeds released by manufacturers and breeders in the world every year in addition to other information. Based on close ties with our business partners in the world, we set up an information network of global horticultural trends so as to gather and distribute the most advanced information. We believe that this is our responsibility as a leader in the Japanese horticultural industry. A variety of young plants and seeds in addition to information introduced by our Young Plants and Seeds Sales Section is provided for growers all over Japan through many reliable wholesalers. |
| *Garden plants marketing division | |
Our Garden Plants Marketing Division plans and develops various gardening products and sells them to garden centers, garden shops, flower shops and the like, all over the country. We are always aware of horticultural demands from domestic and foreign consumers, so are quick to develop attractive products that will meet consumer needs, and supply them steadily. Since we first released "Pink Panda" in 1993, new breeds released by our company every year have become best sellers partly owing to the current gardening boom. Currently these breeds largely support the progress of Hakusan Trading. The Division collects and analyzes information on promising breeds from abroad, repeats the planning and discussion states, and carries out trial cultivation and test marketing on them before they are commercialized. We are mainly selling flowering plants, and also, flower pots, seeds, promotional plants, and the like, to garden centers, home centers, supermarkets, department stores, mail-order companies, and other wholesale distributors in Japan. In an effort to continue to satisfy consumers with better opportunities for gardening, we intend to continue in our planning to present new products into the market. |
| *Horticultural materials division | |
The Horticultural Material Division presents excellent commercial products from horticulturally advanced countries such as some European countries and the U.S.A. to growers in Japan. It deals with a variety of products like peat moss, pots, plug trays, transport systems for growers, cultivation pool benches, irrigation systems, and the like. As horticulture becomes internationalized, many growers are actively studying cultivation methods from abroad. Imports of plants are increasing and excellent horticultural materials are required, which results in the creation of new demands. From the viewpoint of a supplier of plants and horticultural materials, we are trying to introduce excellent information and products that would increase productivity and get profit. |
